I have recently joined the International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT) which is an inclusive organisation that seeks to promote excellence, alongside professional regulation and high ethical standards within the animal therapy industry.

In order to qualify for membership, therapists must show proof of their professional credentials, and business insurance cover. This guarantees that members of the public are able to find a suitably experienced and properly insured therapist when they search the IAAT register. The same criteria are true for membership to The Canine Massage Guild and both organisations require their members to show proof of continued education and learning via their Continuous Professional Development record, which must show evidence of a minimum of twenty-five hours of professional industry-related learning has been completed by individual members each year.

Some Pet Insurance Policies cover massage therapy treatment for your dog and you would need to check with your own insurer to determine if you can claim your treatment fees back, IAAT is widely recognized by all major insurance companies.
I also hold professional membership with the International Canine Behaviourists (ICB) and the The British Isles Tellington Ttouch Guild. It’s important for me to be a member of these professional associations because I am able to continue to develop my skills, receiving mentoring and learning with my peers, and I feel that clients can be safe in the knowledge that I am accountable and that I maintain high ethical values in my handling and approach to their dogs care.
