Linda Tellington-Jones visits the UK

This week has been a momentous time for myself and other practitioners of Ttouch, on Tuesday I was one of a group of ttouch practitioners who assisted on Linda’s Horse demonstration at Moreton Morrel College in Warwickshire. Linda travelled from her home in Florida to be with us here in the UK for some Tellington-Ttouch trainings.

Linda Tellington-Jones founded the Tellington Touch method over forty years ago and it’s a method used widely in many countries to help with training, husbandry and confidence building in animals.

The Ttouch method uses non-habitual guiding exercises to bring awareness to the animal, promoting better posture and balance, bodywork involving very light contact is a feature of ttouch work too. Linda talks of ttouch as being a form of communication, allowing animals to become better connected, physically, emotionally and mentally, which enables them to make better choices, from a place of balance and calmness.

On Wednesday, I spent a day with a group of fellow ttouch practioners, and with Linda, we chatted about a huge range of current topics and talked about what the elements of the Tellington Touch mean to us.

Linda is an amazingly inspirational lady, her method teaches practioners to come from a place of non-judgmental acceptance, encouraging ourselves and others to be the best version of us that we can be…at that moment in time. It’s about showing the animals we work with their possibilities not their limitations. In ttouch we seek not to judge or label animals because that puts expectations and limits upon them.

We were reminded that what we put out into the world multiplies…and that applies to both our negative and positive actions and thoughts… Linda encouraged us to show love and gratitude for our lives and that of others, supporting them to grow and flourish physically and emotionally.

The Tellington Touch uses really simple techniques that anyone can use intuitively, and the beauty of ttouch is that it can have a calming effect for both the animal and their guardian.

My ttouch training features in all of my daily interactions with animals and people, and I have found that ttouch compliments my massage training beautifully. Ttouch is very different to massage, we consider it to be more of a communication modality, using the lightest of touches to awaken cellular activity and awareness.

Ttouch helps me to introduce myself to my clients, especially those who are feeling a little sensitive or unsure, it helps me to lay a trusting foundation upon which to build a rapport.

If you are interested to learn more about the Tellington Touch method, you can find out about training opportunities and workshops if you visit the UK ttouch page www.ttouchtraining.co.uk

I will soon be posting the next blog in my Systems Series and how massage effects each of them.
